East African sports enthusiasts can now follow top-tier global football in their native tongue following the official launch of SuperSport Swahili, a dedicated 24-hour sports channel broadcasting entirely in Kiswahili. Rolled out across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, the channel forms the centerpiece of DStv’s new “Expect More” campaign packages.
Operated under MultiChoice, now a CANAL+ company, the channel is available on DStv Channel 216 (accessible via the Sports and Ultimate tiers, as well as the DStv App) and on GOtv Channel 570 under the Sports package in Kenya and Uganda. In Kenya, access starts at Ksh. 3,000 on both DStv Sports and GOtv Sports, scaling to Ksh. 7,300 for DStv Ultimate subscribers.
While SuperSport has historically integrated Kiswahili commentary into select milestone broadcasts, ranging from domestic leagues to FIFA World Cup tournaments and the Africa Cup of Nations, this launch represents a permanent, dedicated home for localized coverage, complete with native studio analysis and tailored weekly programming.
The channel’s live broadcast roster includes:
Looking ahead to early 2027, the network will expand its slate with a weekly sports magazine show titled Saa Ya Michezo (The Sports Hour), regional sports documentaries, and a dedicated digital news hub.
