MANCHESTER UNITED’s campaign has taken a turn for the worse with the announcement that Benjamin Sesko will be sidelined for the remainder of the year.
The Slovenian forward has been struggling with a recurring shin injury.
Sesko has been contending with this injury since pre-season, which has restricted him to only six appearances this season across all competitions.
Manchester United intends to keep the ex-RB Leipzig player out of match action until after the New Year to ensure a proper recovery.
The Red Devils are hopeful that the decision to refrain from playing Sesko this season will help him avoid potential surgery on his shin.
At 23 years old, Sesko had previously sustained this injury last season but managed to continue playing through the final two months of that campaign.
Unfortunately, the injury has become too severe for the £74 million signed player.
Manchester United has not yet released an official update concerning the status of the Slovenia international.
Despite this, the Old Trafford supporters have voiced their frustrations regarding his prolonged absence.
One fan commented on X: “Good to see INEOS secured a backup striker during the summer.”
Another noted: “The summer transfer window for United has shifted from mediocre to downright ridiculous.”
A different fan remarked: “Excellent squad-building effort by INEOS 👏👏.”
Another said: “Kudos to Wilcox and the rest of the team for this squad development 👏🏻. The entire fanbase called for a left-back and striker, and now both Sesko and [Luke] Shaw are consistently injured.”
Someone else mentioned: “Outstanding performance from United overall. There’s no striker available in the squad until at least January—great job with the planning by [Jason] Wilcox. How have we messed up managing this Sesko injury so badly?”
