Mamelodi Sundowns will be eager to put Friday’s CAF Champions League disappointment behind them when they return to domestic action in the Carling Knockout Round of 16 on Tuesday.

The Brazilians are among the teams still battling for a place in the quarterfinals, with AmaZulu FC, Golden Arrows, Siwelele FC and Sekhukhune United having already secured qualification for the last eight.

EWN Sport takes a look at the remaining Round of 16 fixtures.

Orlando Pirates vs Milford FC

Venue: Orlando Stadium

Kick-off: 19:30

Orlando Pirates will host Milford FC in what will be the sides’ second meeting in all competitions. The two teams previously met in the league in August, with Pirates claiming a
2-0 victory at home through goals from Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi.

The Buccaneers will be looking to maintain their strong record in league cup competitions against KwaZulu-Natal opposition. Pirates have gone 12 matches without a defeat in open play against KZN teams in league cup competitions, with their only setback during that period coming against Richards Bay, who eliminated them on penalties in the 2023/24 quarterfinals.

Mamelodi Sundowns vs Marumo Gallants

Venue: Loftus Versfeld Stadium

Kick-off: 19:30

Sundowns will be looking to bounce back from their continental disappointment when they welcome Marumo Gallants to Loftus Versfeld.

The Brazilians have never lost to Gallants in open play across their previous 13 meetings in all competitions.

Their only defeat came on penalties in last season’s Carling Knockout, making Tuesday’s encounter another opportunity for Sundowns to settle the score on the pitch.

The teams will meet for the third time in the Carling Knockout, having faced each other in the 2024/25 semi-finals and last season’s Round of 16.

It will also be their second meeting of the current campaign, following Sundowns’ 2-0 league victory in August, when Malibongwe Khoza and Cassius Mailula found the net.

With their CAF Champions League campaign now behind them, Sundowns will be determined to keep their domestic cup ambitions alive.

Kaizer Chiefs vs TS Galaxy

Venue: FNB Stadium

Kick-off: 19:30

Kaizer Chiefs will host TS Galaxy in their first-ever Carling Knockout meeting, with Amakhosi seeking to overcome their struggles against the Rockets in cup competitions.

The two sides have met 14 times in all competitions since the 2018/19 season and have previously faced each other in the Nedbank Cup in 2018/19 and 2021/22. TS Galaxy won both encounters 1-0.

Chiefs are yet to score against Galaxy in a cup match, having conceded twice across those two Nedbank Cup meetings.

They will therefore be aiming to break that trend and secure their first cup victory over the Mpumalanga outfit.

Galaxy made history in 2018/19 when they became the first team from outside the topflight to win the Nedbank Cup, achieving the feat while competing in the second tier of South African football.

Durban City vs Stellenbosch FC

Venue: Chatsworth Stadium

Kick-off: 19H30

Stellenbosch FC will begin their Carling Knockout campaign on Wednesday evening when they travel to Durban to face Durban City at Chatsworth Stadium.

The two sides have produced closely contested encounters in recent meetings, with their last three matches all ending in goalless draws.

Stellenbosch will be hoping to break that pattern and book their place in the quarterfinals, while Durban City will look to make home advantage count as both teams target a place in the last eight.
