Bruno Fernandes will not be disciplined for his post-match criticism of Michael Carrick’s tactics after Manchester United were thumped 4-1 by Como in the Champions League.
That is according to the BBC, who also claim Fernandes will remain as Man United captain ahead of Sunday’s must-win Premier League fixture at home to Bournemouth.
Fernandes was substituted in the second half against Como, with Man Utd trailing 3-0 and then cut a frustrated figure on the bench as his team-mates conceded again before Joshua Zirkzee pulled one back with a consolation goal in stoppage time.
The United skipper was then outwardly critical of Carrick's strategy, becoming the second senior player to speak out following a Champions League defeat after Lisandro Martinez last week.
"It's not the first time, we started on the wrong foot, and they scored very early,” Fernandes explained. “Not much pressure on the ball, not many good movements with the ball, not many things going our way.
"Conceding early makes us go into a game with a mood of defeat, it's difficult to get out of that, trying to be brave, to have the ball and make something happen. If we are not able to do that, it is going to be very difficult to get out of this situation.
"It's a decision from the staff to not press man to man and sometimes leave space behind and try to get the ball, wait for them, but sometimes when you give space to these teams they get confidence."

Fernandes continued: "That's on the manager and staff to see, not me. Sometimes you have to be more brave under pressure, take the risk of pressing high and making them uncomfortable.
"As you saw with them, the centre-back was coming to mark me in my own half. We needed to do that as a team but we were unable to.
"A team that plays through the middle with small connections, if you give them too much time and space then they can hurt you out wide."
The aforementioned report states that while there is disappointment at some of his comments from inside Old Trafford, it is acknowledged Fernandes' annoyance was understandable given the manner of the loss.
As such Fernandes will keep the armband and will not be disciplined, though it remains to be seen if he will be selected by Carrick against the Cherries after the under pressure head coach fired back at the Portugal international.

"We actually half pressed man-to-man in the second half and conceded from that,” Carrick responded.
"If you don't run, don't run forward and you don't run back you are not going to win."
