Matchday 7 of the Sizoni Pamoja campaign got underway on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, with the fixture between Kitara and Ntugasaze postponed to a later date owing to Kitara’s continental commitments.
The remaining fixtures proceeded as scheduled, although one encounter was abandoned just eight minutes after kick-off. Of the seven matches completed, five produced outright winners, while two ended in draws, with the games yielding a combined 16 goals.
Ahead of Matchday 7, the rescheduled Matchday 5 fixture between UPDF and BUL was played at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Sunday, 18 October 2026. BUL emerged victorious with a commanding 2–0 away win, courtesy of a Daniel Joseph Bathlomew brace.
With the dust now settled on Matchday 7, several talking points emerged from the weekend’s action, offering fresh perspectives on the evolving league standings, team performances and the broader narrative of the Sizoni Pamoja campaign.
New home Grounds for Blacks Power and Kitara
Before Matchday 7, both Kitara FC and Blacks Power had been using Hoima City Stadium as their home ground. However, the National Council of Sports (NCS) recently issued a directive barring both clubs from continuing to use the facility, leaving them with no option but to seek alternative venues for their home fixtures.
Blacks Power have since found a new home at Bukedea Complex, while Kitara are yet to officially announce their next destination. Nevertheless, multiple reports suggest that the Royals could be heading to the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru as they seek a new base for their home matches.
BUL, SC Villa unbeaten streak continues
As of Matchday 7, Kitara FC, BUL FC and SC Villa remain the only unbeaten sides in the league. BUL and Villa extended their unbeaten runs to seven matches, while NEC FC’s impressive streak came to an end following a 2–1 defeat to BUL in Njeru.
Swabir Mpasa and Ronald Madoi scored for BUL, while substitute Marvin Oshaba netted NEC’s consolation. Meanwhile, SC Villa secured a hard-fought 2–0 victory over Mbarara City, courtesy of goals from Frank Ssebuufu and Najib Yiga.
The victories lifted BUL to 19 points and SC Villa to 17, placing them first and second on the league table respectively. NEC remain third with 14 points despite suffering their first defeat of the campaign.
Another coach loses his job
In the aftermath of Matchday 7, Vipers SC parted ways with head coach Dennis Lavagne following a goalless home draw against Police FC. The decision comes amid a mixed start to the season for the Venoms, whose campaign has also featured a home draw against Maroons FC and a home defeat to UPPC FC.
Lavagne’s departure marks the second coaching casualty of the season, following Kigezi HomeBoyz’s earlier parting of ways with Joseph Mutyaba.
Lavagne left Vipers in 6th position at 11 points with a game in hand.
Lugazi goal drought goes on
Lugazi and Express played out a goalless draw at Lugazi Stadium, extending the hosts’ run of consecutive 0–0 results to two. However, Lugazi’s scoring woes run deeper, with the side now four matches without a goal. Their barren spell also includes 3–0 and 2–0 defeats.
Express, meanwhile, continue to struggle for consistency as they search for their second victory of the season. Both sides remain in the bottom half of the table, precariously positioned with only a narrow margin separating them from the relegation zone.
Kataka and Kigezi’s search for maiden win continues
At the conclusion of Matchday 7, Kataka and Kigezi HomeBoyz remain the only sides yet to register a league victory, with both newcomers still searching for their maiden win of the campaign.
Kataka endured the heaviest defeat of the matchday, suffering a commanding 4–1 loss to Maroons FC at Wankulukuku. Abel Eturude, Fred Amaku, Jackson Nunda and an own goal by Solomon Okello accounted for Maroons’ goals, while Latif Ssenkubuge scored Kataka’s consolation. Meanwhile, Kigezi HomeBoyz fell to a narrow 1–0 defeat at the hands of UPPC FC at Rwamwanja Stadium, with Riech Kokolo scoring the decisive goal.
The results lifted Maroons to seventh place with 10 points, while UPPC maintained fourth position. Kataka and Kigezi HomeBoyz, meanwhile, remain rooted in the relegation zone as their difficult introduction to the top flight continues.
Floodlights failure the force behind abandonment of KCCA vs UPDF clash
As earlier reported, the KCCA versus UPDF encounter was abandoned just eight minutes after kickoff, making it the only Matchday 7 fixture that was played but failed to reach completion.
The abandonment resulted from a lighting failure during the night fixture, the cause of which remains unknown. Efforts to resolve the problem within the timeframe stipulated by the regulations proved unsuccessful, forcing the match officials to halt proceedings.
The Uganda Premier League (UPL) has since issued a statement on the matter, although no conclusive decision has been communicated. Attention now turns to the league authorities for a final ruling, with the fixture still lacking an official result.
Ivan Okello’s fracture overshadows blacks power’s winning start in Bukedea
Blacks Power made an emphatic start to life at their new home ground, securing a hard-fought 3–2 victory over URA FC. Innocent Maduka, Emmanuel Okech and Oscar Otim found the net for the hosts, while Dissan Galiwango’s brace proved insufficient to salvage a point for the visitors.
However, the victory was overshadowed by a worrying injury to Blacks Power captain Ivan Okello, who sustained a fracture following a challenge from Norman Namanya. The incident necessitated emergency medical intervention, casting a somber note over an otherwise triumphant occasion for the hosts.
