Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has become the fifth English player in history to win the Ballon d’Or after claiming the 2026 award at Monday night’s ceremony in London.
The England captain finished ahead of Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé and Barcelona star Lamine Yamal to secure football’s most prestigious individual honour.
Kane joins an exclusive group of English winners that includes Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Michael Owen. His triumph comes 25 years after Owen became the most recent Englishman to win the award in 2001.
The 33-year-old enjoyed an outstanding season, scoring 73 goals and providing eight assists across all competitions for club and country.
His individual success was also accompanied by team silverware, as Kane helped Bayern Munich win the 2025/26 Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup titles.
