TIGER Woods will make his long-awaited comeback to professional golf just under nine months on from his DUI arrest saga.
Woods, 50, hasn’t played on the PGA Tour since he missed the cut at The Open in 2024 at Royal Troon.
A mixture of significant injuries and then his DUI arrest in Florida earlier this year in March has kept him away from what he does best.
He spent a long period of time undergoing rehabilitation in Switzerland before making his first public appearance since in late June.
Woods was then hit with a five-year driving ban after striking a plea deal in September, reducing it from a DUI to willful, wanton reckless driving.
After such a long period out, having been close to a Masters return before the DUI incident, there was speculation on if or when he will make a comeback.
There is now a strong chance that the 15-time Major champion will make his grand return to action on December 27.
That is when the new TGL season will get underway, with Woods aiming to play for his Jupiter Links Golf Club in their opening match.
Per ESPN, Woods is ‘expected to compete’ in their clash against the Los Angeles Golf Club to get Season 3 underway.
Woods only made one lone appearance in Season 2 in which his Jupiter Links team were humiliated.
Tiger Woods, the 50-year-old golf star, was involved in a rollover crash Friday. Here are other crashes Woods has been involved in.
They lost 9-2 to the LA Golf Club on his long-awaited return and in doing so conceded the SoFi Cup to their opponents.
If Woods returns in time for TGL season three, he will be teaming up with Max Homa, Tom Kim, Akshay Bhatia and the newly-acquired Keith Mitchell.
His comeback naturally hinges on him not having any further physical setbacks in the interim.
Kevin Kisner, who played with Jupiter Links last season, told the “Fore Play” podcast that Woods is planning to play a full schedule in the indoor golf league this season.
The 2027 TGL schedule includes 14 regular-season matches and a new play-in match to determine the fourth team in the playoffs.
PGA Tour sensation Jackson Koivun, backed to make a run for the 2027 US Ryder Cup team, will also make his TGL debut this season.
He has joined Motor City Golf Club and will play alongside Jake Knapp, Si Woo Kim and Bud Cauley on opening day.
