KCCA cruise past Maroons to make it six straight wins
KCCA players celebrate Ashraf Fadiga's goal

KCCA extended their winning streak to six games after securing a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Maroons in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on Wednesday.

The hosts took an early lead just six minutes into the game when Derrick Basoga inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while attempting to deal with Herbert Achai’s delivery.

Six minutes later, Sammy Ssebaduka missed a glorious opportunity to double KCCA’s advantage, heading wide from close range after meeting Achai’s well-delivered corner kick.

As the first half progressed, Maroons gradually found their rhythm and began to threaten, but they lacked the cutting edge in the final third to capitalise on their chances.

KCCA returned from the break with renewed purpose, pushing forward in search of a second goal to strengthen their advantage.

Their pressure eventually paid off when Jackson Nnunda inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, compounding Maroons’ misery.

With four minutes left on the clock, Mugume put the result beyond doubt, firing home after being calmly set up by Etienne Katenga.

The victory lifts KCCA to fourth place on the league table with 19 points from nine games, while Maroons remain 11th with 11 points.
