Quadri Aruna has said he is considering retirement from international table tennis after the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Aruna, 38, however said he will continue playing at club level.

“Sometimes we think we will stop but it is God that knows everything,” he said on BRILA FM.

“I want to stop playing at international level that’s after the Los Angeles Olympics, but I will still be playing in leagues.”

Aruna competed for Nigeria at the Olympics and reached the quarterfinals at the Rio 2016 games.

At the World Cup 2014, he reached the quarter-finals in the Men’s Singles competition.

Aruna won the Gold medal in the team event at the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville and clinched the silver medal in the singles at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

In the 2017 ITTF World Challenge Bulgaria Open, he advanced to the semi-finals, where the eventual winner Dimitrij Ovtcharov defeated him in a tight match.

In 2014, he was ranked number 30 in world table tennis, and the International Table Tennis Federation named him the Star Player of the Year.
