Tiger Woods is reportedly nearing a return to competitive golf.
ESPN's Mark Schlabach reported Tuesday that Woods is "expected" to play for the Jupiter Links Golf Club in the Dec. 27 opener of TGL's third season if there are no further setbacks. He participated in just one TGL match during the 2026 season due to back surgery.
What's more, his last appearance in a PGA Tour tournament was in 2024.
The Dec. 27 opener will feature a high-profile doubleheader with Woods and the Jupiter Links Golf Club facing Los Angeles Golf Club in a rematch of last season's finals.
It will be an opportunity for some revenge, as Los Angeles won last season's title.
That will be the second match after Brooks Kopeka makes his TGL debut with Motor City Golf Club. They face Boston Common Golf, which features Rory McIlroy.
As for Woods, Schlabach noted the TGL opener could be part of a busy December for the all-time great.
It remains to be seen whether he will compete in the Hero World Challenge that he hosts in the Bahamas. What's more, he could play alongside his son, Charlie, in the PNC Championship, especially since he was granted permission to use a cart in the 36-hole event.
Woods is on the short list of the best golfers in the history of the sport and counts 15 major championships and 82 PGA Tour tournament victories on his illustrious resume. However, injuries and surgeries have been a significant issue in the latter portion of his career.
The 50-year-old will surely never reach the level he did at his peak, but he is still one of the biggest names in all of sports and would generate plenty of interest in the TGL event if he does participate.
