Angel Reese is at a career high with back-to-back wins in her very first appearance at the WNBA Finals after winning gold for Team USA in the 2026 FIBA World Cup. However, her recent online activity has social media in tears over her response to a fan’s marriage proposal during a basketball game.

A TikTok video showed a man in a suit holding a sign reading: “Angel Will you MARRY ME?” and yelling, “Angel, I love you!”

The clip showed the man, who pulled up all suited and booted, looking dapper with a tie for his big moment. He held up the huge sign and took his shot. Even though he failed to get her attention on court, the Atlanta Dream star did end up finding the video and made sure to leave a reaction after that big gesture.

Reese didn’t respond during the game but later commented on the clip, writing, “not in this lifetime but i have some fine friendsssss.”

The content creator responded to Reese’s comment with “Wtwwwww twinnnnie” and some laughing emojis.

As the moment went viral across social media platforms, fans flooded the comments with reactions, joking about her offer to set him up with friends.

One X (formerly Twitter) account shared screenshots of the interaction with the caption: “right in front of wendell’s salad omg! 😭😭,” suggesting Reese’s boyfriend Wendell Carter Jr. was in the now-viral proposal video.

Reacting to the post, one fan quipped, “the way wendell just has to stand there and watch this whole thing unfold in front of his salad is sending me😭.”

Another user quipped, “It’s her responding for me lol she say she got some friend for him just not her.”

“@Reese10Angel which friends exactly???????????,” one fan cheekily asked.

A user also praised the fan for his confidence as he wrote, “You know what respect to him because my social anxiety could never.”

Others appreciated the content creator’s effort, writing, “He has a suit and everything for the proposal lol.”

“This is so cute! He even put a suit on, gotta respect it haha,” wrote another.

Meanwhile, a fan, in utter disbelief at the whole interaction, wrote, “I’m crying that she responded 😂😂😂😂.”

After Reese’s boyfriend and Orlando Magic Center lost his recent matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, a fan joked, “LOL my boy was trying to win his game and he was proposing to his girl last night?”

Others joined in on the fun, as one commented, “wendell lost and people making moves on his girl he really a bum bro.”

Further throwing shade at Carter Jr., one fan wrote, “wait, was the salad the real victim here or just a dramatic side character?”

Reese and Carter Jr. make one of the most prominent basketball couples at the moment. The Orlando center even attended her game against her former team, Chicago Sky, this season.

Even though it’s uncertain when the duo started dating, Carter Jr. said during an interview with Run It Back TV, “That’s the homie. We locked in. That’s my girl though, y’all gon’ find out when y’all need to find out,” when asked if he is dating Reese.

Now that Carter Jr. is focused on the NBA’s new season, he was recently asked if he will be able to join his girlfriend during the championship series. Speaking in an interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, he said that he spent much of his summer split between constantly supporting Reese and physically preparing for the new season.

Carter Jr. said, “It’s been a great summer. A lot of hard work, a lot of relaxation, and a lot of support for my girl… It’s been good, man,” before calling themselves “both competitors.”
