It was a bit of a missed opportunity, and now Everton have one of their hardest games of the season.

Arsenal have started the new season well, winning six of their seven games so far, losing only to Brighton.

There will be a desire to get back on track after the defeat to Chelsea, but how have Everton fared against Arsenal previously?

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall of Everton celebrates his goal to make it 1-1 during the Premier League match between Hull City and Everton at MKM Stadium in Hull, United Kingdom, on October 11, 2026.

Everton’s recent record against Arsenal is poor

Arsenal are a solid side, and Everton have found the Gunners a very tricky opponent, especially recently.

Everton haven’t recorded a victory against Arsenal in any of the last seven meetings, with five of those being Arsenal wins. The last time Everton did win against the north London giants was in February 2023, when James Tarkowski scored in a 1-0 win.

Losses – 28

That game happened to be Sean Dyche’s first in charge, after the sacking of Frank Lampard following a run of poor results that left the club in the relegation zone.

In terms of the overall head-to-head, Arsenal have recorded 114 wins to Everton’s 65, and there have been 48 draws.

And then it is obviously worth looking at Everton’s record at the Emirates Stadium specifically, with Saturday’s game taking place at Arsenal’s home ground – and it makes for fairly grim reading.

Everton have gone there 35 times and only ever won two matches. There have been 28 wins for Arsenal and five draws.

What about David Moyes’ record vs Arsenal?

From his most-faced opponent last week in Chelsea, to his second-most faced opponent in Arsenal.

David Moyes has come up against the Gunners a whopping 47 times throughout his managerial career, and like Everton he has generally come up short.

He’s only overseen six wins, and been beaten 30 times. There have been 11 draws between David Moyes teams and Arsenal.

Draws 0 7 1 0 3
Losses 2 18 0 2 8

Specifically as Everton manager, Moyes has won three times, drawn seven and lost 18. His last victory as Everton manager over Arsenal came all the way back in March 2007. He has never recorded a win at the Emirates as manager of the Toffees, but did get one win there for West Ham United in December 2023.

In conclusion, the records of both Everton and Moyes against Arsenal are not particularly encouraging and they will of course be the firm favourites again to win on Saturday.

But we’ll see if Everton can spring a surprise. With Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall looking like he’s coming back into some form, and centre-backs James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite having looked solid together for the most part this season, perhaps the Toffees have it in them to get a result.
