Vipers sack head coach Denis Lavagne after just four months in charge

Vipers SC have parted ways with head coach Denis Lavagne after just four months in charge of the Uganda Premier League club.

The French coach’s contract was ended by mutual consent on 24 October 2026, bringing his short spell at the Kitende-based club to an early end.

“Vipers Sports Club informs its stakeholders and general public that it has by mutual consent ended its contractual relationship with Mr Denis Lavagne (Head Coach) effective October 24th, 2026,” the club said in a statement.

“The club would like to thank Lavagne for his services during his stay at the Venoms family and wishes him the best in his career development.”

Lavagne was appointed in June 2026 on a two-year contract, but lasted only about four months before leaving the club.

He becomes the sixth head coach to leave Vipers in the last five years, highlighting the club’s continued changes in the technical area.

His departure follows a mixed start to the 2026/27 season, with Vipers knocked out of the CAF Champions League in the preliminary round by Mauritania’s FC Nouadhibou.

The Venoms have also made an inconsistent start to their league campaign and currently sit fifth in the Uganda Premier League with 11 points from six matches.

They have won three games, drawn two and lost one.
