It would appear that everybody who likes football at the moment has an opinion on Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner.
Glasner had a rant at his players publicly after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford, and that saw his calm and composed mask slip a little bit.
The players have seemingly supported Glasner in his public urge for his players to buck their ideas up, and it remains to be seen what impact his words will have had when the Reds face Manchester City on Saturday.
Now, a former Premier League player and dad of a Forest star has come out in full support of Glasner, and it would appear that he’s backing him to succeed.
It wasn’t a huge surprise when Delap signed for Forest in the summer, with the Reds making no secret of their desire to sign the striker from Chelsea.
Now, his dad has suggested that the move for his son to play under Glasner was 12 months in the making, with the player keen to move to play under the head coach.
Rory said on The Managers Podcast: “Fortunately, Forest came in; he’d spoken to Oliver Glasner the year before when he was at Palace before he went to Chelsea, and he was really impressive.
“So, it was good that the manager going in had previously wanted him.
“It’s a big year for him. You know, it’s been a tough start for him and the team, but they’re actually playing really well.”
Delap has found things tough since moving to Forest and has managed just a single goal so far since moving to the football club.
Still, as a young player, Delap has time on his side, and the physical presence he has added to the ranks does suggest that he can still be a hit at Forest in the future.
Delap needs goals but crucially, he needs to remain confident and if he does that, the goals will almost certainly come for him at the City Ground.
