Al Najma Beat Al Ahli, Al Hala Defeat Sitra

Both winners maintain perfect starts to the Bahrain Basketball League season with third consecutive victories

Al Najma and Al Hala recorded their third consecutive victories in the 2026-27 Zain Bahrain Basketball League on Tuesday, as matchweek three continued at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex.

In the evening's second fixture, Al Najma defeated Al Ahli 67-54, handing the Eagles their first loss of the season, while Al Hala beat Sitra 95-81 earlier in the night to leave their opponents winless after three matches.

The clash between last season's Golden Square semi-finalists saw Al Najma lead 36-28 at half-time before Al Ahli, coached by Spaniard Marcelo Zubiran, fought back in the third quarter and briefly moved ahead.

However, Al Najma regained control to enter the final period leading 51-46, although their advantage was reduced to 53-50 early in the fourth.

Mohamed Husain Abbas then struck from beyond the arc with 6:10 remaining, sparking a run of four consecutive three-pointers alongside Sadiq Hasan Shukralla.

The pair combined to extend the lead to 65-50 with 3:22 left, effectively settling the contest.

Shukralla finished with a team-high 12 points, all from three-point range, while Abbas and Raekwon Rogers contributed 11 each. Maitham Jameel Abdulmahdi and Freeman Jr. added 10 apiece.

Hesham Sarhan led Al Ahli with 15 points, while Derrick Woods recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Al Hala Beat Sitra 95-81

In the opening fixture, Tony Mitchell scored 29 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Al Hala to a 14-point victory over Hussain Al Jazeeri's Sitra.

Sitra held a 48-45 advantage at half-time and remained ahead 66-63 late in the third quarter, but nine unanswered points turned the deficit into a 72-66 lead for Al Hala entering the fourth.

Al Hala maintained control in the final period, extending the margin to 16 points before closing out the win.

Ahmed Khalifa Bindayneh supported Mitchell with 20 points, 11 assists and six steals, while Abdulqader Salah Thani contributed 14 points.

Lamar Mallory led Sitra with 17 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Ali Mohsen Ebrahim with 16 and captain Mahdi Abdulameer Isa with 13.

Matchweek three concludes on Wednesday, with Nuwaidrat facing Al Ettihad at the same venue at 8pm.
