Malcolm Stewart lands with Monster Energy Kawasaki for 2027

Malcom Stewart will race for the Monster Energy Kawasaki team, effectively replacing Chase Sexton for 2027. The news came less than a week after Sexton and the team agreed to part ways one season into a three-year contract.

Stewart will race as part of a two-man roster that also includes 2026 Supercross Rookie of the Year, Garrett Marchbanks.

Stewart was the final rider affected by the closure of Husqvarna’s Factory team after
RJ Hampshire announced his move to the Factory Ducati in early October.

“I’m very excited to be joining Monster Energy Kawasaki for 2027,” Stewart said in a news release. “I started my racing career on a Kawasaki as an amateur, so coming back to the brand feels like I’m returning to my roots. It’s a full-circle moment to have started my career with Kawasaki and now have the opportunity to return to where it all began. I’m looking forward to working with the team.”

Stewart won the 2016 250 SX East divisional title and finished as high as third on a 450 in Supercross.

Stewart earned his first Supercross victory at Tampa in 2025. He followed that up with second-place results in Birmingham, Alabama, and Salt Lake City. Stewart finished fourth in the Supercross series that season.

Beset by injuries throughout his career, Stewart has had difficulty in finding momentum. In 2019, he broke his femur early in the season at Glendale, Arizona, and sat out the remainder of the Supercross season. In 2022, he missed the first half of the Pro Motocross season with a knee injury, and in 2023, he reinjured that knee in Supercross practice.

The 2025 and 2026 seasons were also effected by injury. In 2025 he entered the SuperMotocross World Championship as the No. 3 seed, but injured his back in the Playoff opener. In 2026 he dabbed his knee in the Pro Motocross opener and missed much of the season.

Despite that, Stewart qualified for the 2026 Playoffs and finished ninth.
