Chrystian Barletta scored twice to secure a 2–1 victory for Sport over Criciúma at the Ilha do Retiro stadium in Recife, lifting his tally to 16 goals and eight assists this season. The forward’s performance pushed his total goal involvements to 24 across all competitions, marking the most productive campaign of his career in his third year with the club. Entering the 35th round of the second division, Sport occupied eighth place with 51 points while Criciúma sat fifth with 59 points, according to coverage by O Povo. O Povo noted that the division’s overall average attendance has hovered below 5,000 paying spectators at 4,958, though Fortaleza, Ceará, and Sport maintained the highest average gates in the competition at 15,563, 11,554, and 11,529 respectively. Meanwhile, Rádio Fundação Marconi detailed that Criciúma entered the fixture with opportunities to climb toward the promotion spots, supported by returning midfielder Jhonata Robert in the starting lineup under coach Umberto Louzer.
Rádio Fundação Marconi reported that Criciúma lined up with Airton in goal; Willean Lepo, César Martins (or Jean Irmer), Rodrigo, Luciano Castán, and Marcelo Hermes in the defensive department; Ronald, Fellipe Mateus, Otero (or Diego Gonçalves), and Jhonata Robert across the midfield; and Nicolas leading the attack. A victory would have elevated the team to 62 points, momentarily surpassing Fortaleza, Juventude, and Novorizontino to claim the second position in the standings before the fixtures of their competitors.
While supporters filled the stands in Recife, Criciúma fans gathered for a club-hosted watch party.
Criciúma Esporte Clube hosted the inaugural edition of the Hoje Tem Tigre
event on Friday, October 23, 2026, welcoming supporters to the courtyard of the Heriberto Hülse Stadium in Criciúma with free admission starting at 18h30. Supported by Baldissera Empreendimentos, the gathering featured a large screen broadcasting the 21h match live, alongside a food court, a bistro, beverage stations, the Bar da Torcida, a Kids Space, and partner activities. Musical entertainment included performances by Samba Off, DJ Viko, and the band Os Tigres, while the Os Tigres supporters’ group also operated a stand selling official merchandise and tickets for their 20th-anniversary celebration.
Despite conceding a late goal that tested the team’s composure, Sport held firm to claim all three points in front of their home supporters.
Barletta said the team faced challenges early in the game but adjusted to take the lead, adding that they could not afford to concede at the end but managed to persevere.
With the 35th round underway, clubs face a tight stretch of four remaining fixtures to determine promotion to Série A, playoff positioning, and relegation survival. Sport faces three final matches in the regular schedule as the team pursues an ascent up the standings.
Barletta noted the importance of the fans’ support throughout the match and acknowledged the challenges remaining in the season.
