With playoff rankings on the line, several Macon high school teams got crucial wins Friday night as the season nears its end.

The Northeast Raiders are one win away from their second consecutive region championship, as they defeated the Pike County Pirates 47-7 on Homecoming to improve to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in Region 2-AAA. Northeast looked good from the start and took a 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, then exploded for four touchdowns in the second. The Raiders held Pike County to just 28 passing yards.

The victory sets Northeast up for a de facto region championship game in Macon next week, as the Raiders are set to take on Callaway, the second place team in Region 3, with the trophy on the line.

The Windsor Knights finished their regular season on a very high note, dominating local rival Central Fellowship in a 60-0 thrashing for their ninth consecutive win. In addition to taking home the South Bibb Trophy, the win helped the Knights finish the year 9-1, their lone loss coming in the opener against Stratford.

There are only four teams in the GIAA Class A playoffs, where Windsor holds the No. 1 seed. The Knights will, as a result, face No. Robert Toombs in the first round Nov. 6. RTCA is 0-10 this season.

Stratford bounced back with ease from a tough loss to John Milledge last week, dominating rival Tattnall 54-13 to finish the regular season 7-2. The win helped the Eagles secure the No. 1 seed in the GIAA Class AAAA state tournament. In a twist of fate, Stratford appears set to face Tattnall once again, as the Trojans have the No. 8 seed in the classification.

FPD will be the only other Macon team in the Class AAAA playoffs, as they hold the No. 5 seed. They will likely travel to No. 4 St. Anne-Pacelli to being the playoffs.

Howard’s playoff hopes took a blow Friday, as the Huskies lost 42-14 to Troup County, one of the top teams in the state in Class AAAA. Howard had two early touchdowns from Ta’shawn Poole to make things close at the start, but the Huskies’ defense could not contain the Troup County offense.

Howard came into the matchup ranked No. 21 in the GHSA Post Season Rankings (PSR), but only dropped two spots to No. 23. The Huskies should have a playoff spot with ease. They face rival Westside next week to close out the regular season.

Here’s a full list of scores from Friday’s games.
