Lamine Yamal has made Champions League history after surpassing Kylian Mbappe’s teenage scoring record during Barcelona’s impressive 3-0 victory over Aston Villa.
The 19-year-old winger opened the scoring in the seventh minute at Spotify Camp Nou, capitalising on a defensive mistake before curling the ball beyond goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
The goal took Yamal’s Champions League tally to 14, moving him beyond Mbappe’s previous teenage record of 13 goals.
Raphinha added two second-half goals as Barcelona secured victory, ending Aston Villa’s unbeaten league-phase run and provisionally climbing into second place.
According to Sports NDTV, Yamal reached the milestone in just 37 appearances, further strengthening his reputation as one of European football’s most exciting young talents.
The Spain international already holds several competition records, including becoming the youngest player to start a main-stage Champions League match.
He also became the youngest player to score and provide an assist in a Champions League game, alongside being the youngest scorer in a semi-final.
Furthermore, Yamal holds the records for most Champions League goals before turning 18, with five, and before turning 19, with 11.
However, Max Dowman recently surpassed him as the youngest player to feature in the competition’s knockout stages.
The milestone arrives during another impressive campaign, with Yamal recording 13 goals and 11 assists across 15 appearances in all competitions for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.
Despite finishing third in the latest Ballon d’Or rankings behind Harry Kane and Mbappe, the teenager continues establishing himself among football’s biggest stars.
