Jayden Danns provided further evidence of his return to full fitness as he found the net for the first time this season, with his goal helping Liverpool Under-21s stage yet another fightback.
Danns grabbed the equalizer as the Reds came back from a 2-0 deficit to secure a 2-2 draw in their latest Premier League 2 clash against Chelsea at Kingsmeadow on Saturday.
Will Wright had hauled Rob Page's side back into contention when converting his 10th goal in 11 appearances this season on 26 minutes, following early efforts from Harrison McMahon and Sol Gordon that had given Chelsea the advantage.
And Danns, making his seventh appearance for the U21s this campaign, struck three minutes after the restart to claim a point for Liverpool with his first goal at any level since August 2025.
“Our overall feeling is we should have won the game, because we created some great chances in the second half," U21s player-coach Jay Spearing told Liverpoolfc.com.
“We were off it in the first half and gifted two goals away but in the second half we were more like what we are about.
Get Liverpool's new 2026/27 home kit
Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
“The lads showed brilliant character, we had more belief and we played really well. We go away frustrated because we had some big chances to win it.
“We are delighted for Dannsy to get his first goal of the season. It was a brilliant free-kick and he deserved it. And he got 70 minutes in, which was great for him.”
Earlier in the day, another strike from 15-year-old midfielder Luca Eden proved insufficient as the U18s suffered a 6-3 defeat at Manchester United in the U18 Premier League North, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool trailed by three goals at half-time at Carrington following Noah Ajayi's effort and a Jaume Camacho-Sidos double, but mounted a strong second-half revival with Finn Inglethorpe scoring after excellent work from Eden and AJ Yeguo, before Erik Farkas capitalized on an error from United goalkeeper Charlie Hardy.
United hit back, however, with Camacho-Sidos netting four times and Emmanuel Ziro also getting on the scoresheet, though Eden's stunning solo effort — turning on a pass 30 yards out before driving forward to unleash a powerful strike into the top corner — proved to be one of the standout moments.
Liverpool's U21s won't return to action until their EFL Trophy trip to Huddersfield on Tuesday, November 10, while the U18s host Sunderland next Saturday (October 31) in the U18 Premier League North.
