The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rejected Rangers’ request to play their CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg against MC Alger behind closed doors.
The decisive match will be held on Friday evening (today) at the Ali La Pointe Stadium in Douera, Algeria, with spectators permitted to attend following CAF’s decision.
Rangers had asked the governing body to prevent supporters from entering the stadium. However, MC Alger fans will now be allowed to watch the match as the two sides compete for a place in the CAF Champions League group stage.
MC Alger’s management has called on its supporters to behave responsibly during the fixture. Fans have been urged to maintain discipline, show good sportsmanship and help ensure the match takes place in a peaceful atmosphere.
Rangers take a 2-0 advantage into the return leg after winning the first meeting at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta last weekend.
The Nigerian champions will be looking to protect that lead in Algeria and secure qualification for the next stage of the competition.
