Bild reports that Lennart Karl is facing internal criticism at Bayern Munich, with concerns that his off-the-pitch activities on social media are becoming too much of a distraction.
Since the start of the new season, Lennart Karl has struggled to rediscover the form he showed during his impressive breakthrough campaign at Bayern Munich.
According to Bild, the 18-year-old's dip in form is not being blamed solely on the muscle tear he suffered over the summer, with concerns also reportedly growing over his off-the-pitch activities.
The German tabloid reports that Bayern's hierarchy are unhappy with how Karl presents himself on social media, believing he shares too much of “his glamorous lifestyle and his private life with his influencer girlfriend, Zoe Käppele”.
As a result, the club has reportedly urged the teenager to spend less time on Instagram and focus more on his performances on the pitch, hoping that can help him improve his performances.
FC Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany, however, has publicly backed Karl to return to his best, insisting there is no reason to panic.
“The rhythm and performances will come. He’s not performing at the level he had last season, but that’s also okay.
“He knows that it happens, he knows we’re patient with him. At some point his moment will come and he will show us the Lennart Karl that we all know.
“He’s still young, he had a few injuries. It will come, I’m not worried,” Kompany added.
