You don't need a football coach's salary to afford José Mourinho's favourite pair of adidas shoes.

José Mourinho has a knack for picking the right teams. His two Champions League titles, three Premier League titles, and treble with Inter Milan are proof of that. But judging by his latest appearance at Real Madrid 's training ground , he also has a knack for choosing the right sneakers.

Yesterday, the Portuguese coach was at the club's training complex in Valdebebas, northeast of Madrid, preparing his team for their Champions League match against RB Leipzig. There were undoubtedly a number of things to work out: formations, set pieces, who does what and where! However, our attention was drawn to his red and silver adidas Adizero Evo SL boots.

The Evo SL is a true running shoe with impressive credentials. Its design is inspired by the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1, the ultra-lightweight marathon shoe from the German sportswear giant. Underfoot, there's a thick layer of Lightstrike Pro foam for enhanced cushioning and energy return, while the upper combines synthetic and textile materials. Weighing in at around 224g in a UK size 8.5, it's also incredibly light – a real plus for those who spend a lot of time on their feet at work.

And not only do they perform, but they also look amazing. Mourinho's version comes in shiny silver and gray, with huge "Lucid Red" stripes down the sides – Mourinho scrawled his initials on them with a marker, just in case anyone had any ideas. The silhouette is sleek, the sole is chunky, and those bold logos give the whole thing an air of speed, even when the wearer is just standing there watching others work out.
