‘This Is out of Line,’ ‘You’re Losing Credibility by the Day’ — Colin Cowherd Faces Pushback Over ‘Total Hit Piece’ on Ravens Superstar Lamar Jackson

The Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens are set to meet in one of the most anticipated matchups of Week 8. The game also marks Lamar Jackson’s return after the quarterback missed the past three weeks with an injury suffered in Week 4. However, the build-up to the matchup has taken an unexpected turn.

Amid the discussion surrounding Jackson’s injury and availability, Colin Cowherd made some harsh comments about the Ravens star, and fans were quick to call out the longtime sports radio host, with many describing his remarks as disrespectful.

Fans Call Out Colin Cowherd Over Lamar Jackson Comments

Despite winning two MVPs, including a unanimous selection, Jackson has continued to face criticism over his injury history and postseason performances. His latest injury kept him sidelined for three weeks, giving Cowherd another reason to take a shot at the Ravens quarterback.

“Lamar is basically a .500 quarterback, and you’re never quite sure when he’s going to play, and there’s weird communication,”the analyst said in an episode of “The Herd.”

“He falls asleep in team meetings because he’s playing video games late at night. Is he a more talented Kyler Murray?” Cowherd also asked.

Calling Jackson just 62-65% of the player Josh Allen is, Cowherd then questioned the way the Ravens handle their star quarterback.

“Everybody in Baltimore walks on eggshells around Lamar. You ever notice that? Constantly placating him. If you’re having to walk on eggshells about a co-worker, stuff’s usually worse than just the stuff we read about in the newspaper.”

Fans were furious over Cowherd’s comments about a potential future Hall of Famer and one of the most dominant quarterbacks of this era. They took to social media to call out the longtime host for his criticism.

“Colin, you’re losing credibility by the day, pal. This is a god-awful take. You compared him to Kyler Murray, a 2-time MVP, 3-time first-team All-Pro, to a guy that has done nothing in this league,” one X user wrote.

The fan also questioned Cowherd’s report about Jackson falling asleep in team meetings, adding, “Also, you getting info from the Baltimore Sun is like getting it from a random person here on X. They don’t know [expletive] and just say whatever gets clicks because they have a vendetta against Lamar. Seems like you do too.”

Another fan questioned Cowherd’s source, calling the segment a “total hit piece” and claiming the report about Jackson sleeping during team meetings was “completely false.”

“This is a total hit piece. Completely false. His source is a local reporter who hates Lamar for absolutely no reason. Complete [expletive] here by Colin. All clickbait. Terrible journalism,” they wrote.

“You are annoying and full of hate when it comes to my QB,” one X user wrote, while another called for Cowherd to face consequences, arguing, “The slander is unbelievable. Colin should be fired for this [expletive].”

One commenter accused Cowherd of having a double standard when it came to Jackson, questioning why he chose to criticize the quarterback after his injury.

To the fan’s credit, Jackson was playing at an MVP level before his injury. Despite appearing in just four games this season, he ranks No. 2 in the league with a PFN QB Impact Score of 87.0. He has also thrown for nearly 1,000 yards while maintaining his usual efficiency both as a passer and a runner.

One fan expressed his disappointment with Cowherd’s comments, writing, “This is out of line. I expect better from you, Colin.”

It remains to be seen whether Cowherd will face enough backlash to change his tune in the coming weeks.

Jackson, meanwhile, will have a chance to respond on the field when he returns against the Bills, and a strong performance could quiet some of the criticism.
