Ronald Araujo believes there is still much more to come from Liverpool as they bid to extend their winning run to six consecutive games when Arsenal visit Anfield on Sunday.

Andoni Iraola's side can move to within three points of the reigning champions with a victory, having put behind them a stuttering start to the season in which they drew three of their opening four Premier League matches.

Since a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester City after the international window, Liverpool having recorded high-scoring Champions League wins over LASK and Villarreal, Premier League victories over Brentford and Brighton, and a penalty shootout success over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

Sunday will be their fourth straight home game and an opportunity to keep that strong run going.

"There’s no doubt we’re in a good moment," Araujo said on the club’s website. "Personally, I’m convinced about the team that we have.

"Perhaps we didn’t get the best of starts but, given the team that we have and the work and the philosophy the manager has for us, I was convinced that the team would continue to grow. We’re in that development phase and it’s great because that means that there is still room for improvement.

"So, we know we can give a lot more and we’re working very hard to do that. It’s a lovely moment but we have to keep going – we can’t be satisfied.

"Now we have a really big challenge in front of us this weekend against a big rival, but we’re playing at home with our fans and we’ll give everything to get that victory."

Arsenal make the trip back north just a few days after a humbling penalty shootout loss to League Two Fleetwood, dumping them out of the Carabao Cup.

Iraola enjoyed wins over Arsenal in three of his last four meetings while in charge of Bournemouth, but the Spaniard said that record would be irrelevant this weekend.

"It’s true that we had good results with Bournemouth against them, but this doesn’t mean a lot, honestly," Iraola said. "It’s a totally different team, different group of players, different moments so I think we cannot use exactly the same things we used with Bournemouth against Arsenal."

And Iraola can certainly no longer play the underdog card with the Anfield crowd behind him and his players.

"I knew since the first day I stepped into this building, I knew this was going to happen – it doesn’t matter the position, it doesn’t matter the competition," he said. "We accept this. It is always a good thing also in the people expecting a lot of things from your team.

"It doesn’t change a lot the approach of the game. At the end it’s a matter of how can we have more chances than the opposition, more chances the Arsenal. We know they are very good defensively.

"I think also defensively we are in a good place. So, every situation we can create, every chance you can get, is very valuable and after what happens in the boxes will be decisive."
