Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy has donated GH¢100,000 to the national amputee football team, the Black Challenge to help with their preparation for next month’s Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

Stonebwoy handed over cash to the team on Friday, October 23, during a visit to the team’s training session at the Mensah Sarbah Park on the University of Ghana campus in Accra.

He encouraged the players to believe in their ability to conquer the world.

The award-winning musician also appealed to Ghanaians, corporate institutions and the government to support the team’s preparations as they seek to translate their continental success into global glory.

“These are the people we should be more proud of. They need a lot of encouragement since they are representing the country; they are our ambassadors. I have always followed and supported them,” Stonebwoy said.

“I hope and believe they can go on and win the World Cup. They have done so well in Africa, so we must all give them maximum support. They are going to represent the Ghanaian flag,” he added.

The donation comes amid logistical challenges that have disrupted the team’s preparations. Visa acquisition difficulties have held up the Black Challenge’s departure for a pre-tournament training camp in Türkiye.

Ghana will compete in Group D against Angola, Colombia and Iraq at the November 13–22 tournament in San Juan de los Lagos in Mexico.

The reigning African champions are targeting their maiden world title after winning the continental crown in 2021 and 2024 and claiming African Para Games gold in 2023.
