Fanatical Knicks couple slammed by fans after bizarrely naming their son 'Knickson Fyve' to commemorate NBA Finals win

This summer, the phrase 'Knicks in Five' was memorialized throughout New York City as its premier basketball team won the NBA Finals. One family decided to keep that phrase alive through their son.

Vance Bradford, an actor and filmmaker, and his wife, Yvonne Gonzalez, welcomed a child over the summer.

The pair announced the birth of their son on Wednesday, revealing they named the infant Knickson Fyve Bradford.

The couple have set up an Instagram account for their son, with pictures plastered on the page featuring the infant in blue and orange outfits with the Knicks logo on them.

Speaking to Today.com, the Queens-based family picked out names long before birth, settling on Lady Victoria for a girl and Prestige Wisdom for a boy.

But as the Knicks continued to win and kept rolling through the playoffs, and the child turned out to be a boy, they changed their minds.

'You know how when something happens so well in your favor, you don't want to jinx it?' Vance told the show. 'I was just like "Yep! Absolutely. That's it."'

Yvonne came up with the name Knickson before they settled on 'Fyve' as a middle name a few days later.

The Knicks snapped a 53-year title drought just 56 days before Knickson Fyve Bradford was born on August 8.

On '8/8' – which happened to be Yvonne's birthday – the child was born at a weight of eight pounds, eight ounces.

Perhaps it's fitting then that the Knicks No. 8, OG Anunoby, played a crucial role by tipping in a last-second bucket in Game 4 of the NBA Finals to cap off a 29-point comeback.

Adding to the family connection, Vance's mother was the scorekeeper for the Knicks during their 1972-73 season – the last time New York won a title before this summer.

'We wanted to have a very strong and firm name that would lead to a cool life,' Vance said. 'Knickson Fyve is definitely our motto. Knickson Fyve forever!'

While the couple are happy with their decision, the internet was stunned and even flamed the parents for this move.
