BAYERN MUNICH boss Vincent Kompany was rushed to hospital via helicopter after collapsing at the club’s training ground.
According to Bild, Kompany, 40, has been suffering from a viral infection, leaving him with difficulties climbing stairs.
The same source claims the infection is said to have caused the Belgian tactician problems with an old scar tissue.
According to Sky Sports, the Manchester City legend then collapsed during today’s training session.
A rescue helicopter landed in the German champions’ Sabener Strasse base to pick Kompany up.
The ex-Burnley boss was then taken to the emergency room of a hospital in Munich by an ambulance.
The ex-Anderlecht manager had been dealing with health issues since last week and showed symptoms on Saturday when Bayern thrashed RB Leipzig 6-1 at the Allianz Arena.
Kompany had to lie down in his sofa that was placed in his cabin during half-time and after full-time before leaving post-game interviews to his assistants.
The legendary defender was absent from training on Monday as he attended a medical check-up.
The next day, the Premier League icon was able to complete the final training before the crunch Champions League clash against Arsenal, which saw him squaring off against his former Man City coach Mikel Arteta, who was manager Pep Guardiola’s assistant.
But Kompany was replaced by assistant Aaron Danks during the pre-match presser ahead of Wednesday’s 2-2 draw in Munich.
The former centre-back, though, attended the press conference after the Champions League encounter and shared some details on his condition.
Kompany said: “As a coach, you always want to do everything and do everything.
“I got a pretty juicy virus last week, then of course I didn’t listen to my body and then the body eventually said: Now stop it!”
