Several African nations have learned their final positions at the U15 World Cup in Azerbaijan, with Spain and the Czech Republic set to contest the title on Friday evening.
The tournament concludes on Friday after a format featuring six divisions of teams. Following the group stage, sides moved into knockout matches and a series of placement games, ensuring every team continued competing for a final ranking even after being eliminated from the title race.
Guinea will finish sixth in Division A after losing 4-2 to Brazil, while Ghana claimed seventh place with a 4-0 victory over Colombia.
Morocco finished 13th overall. The Atlas Cubs had made a perfect start to the competition before their progress was halted by a 1-0 defeat by Paraguay. They then lost 3-0 to Mexico, but recovered to end the tournament strongly, beating Venezuela 4-3 and Egypt 3-1.
Cameroon, who also qualified for Division A after beating Senegal 3-0 in the group stage, finished 23rd. The Young Lions suffered a heavy 9-2 defeat by Russia, but ended their campaign with a 2-0 win against Australia.
Algeria were ranked 28th after a more disappointing end to the tournament. The Young Fennecs had enjoyed a successful opening phase, but their performances declined in the later matches. They were beaten 4-1 by Northern Ireland in their final game.
Senegal ended the competition in 36th place overall after losing 4-3 to Zambia in the Division B semi-final. They were then beaten by Argentina in a penalty shootout, following a 1-1 draw, with Argentina winning 5-4 on penalties. Madagascar finished 37th.
Cote d’Ivoire took 41st place after beating South Sudan 2-1 in their final ranking match. The Elephants had previously lost 2-1 to Argentina before recovering in their closing fixture.
Mali finished 45th after a convincing 5-1 victory over Costa Rica, while the Democratic Republic of the Congo were placed 101st following a 6-4 win against Lithuania.
Tunisia ended up 66th after losing 3-0 to Belarus in the Division C final. Some African teams still have the chance to improve their positions, with Zambia due to face Portugal for 33rd place in Division B.
Central African Republic won the Division E final, beating Bangladesh 4-1, and finished 129th in the overall standings.
The world title will be decided on Friday evening when Spain face the Czech Republic in the Division A final.
