Philadelphie staged a dramatic 114-106 comeback against Cleveland on Thursday, erasing a 29-point deficit in the largest rally of LeBron James’s career. The victory pushed the 76ers to 2-0 to start the NBA season following an off-season roster overhaul that brought James to Pennsylvania.

Boos at Halftime Give Way to a Historic Rally

The home crowd at the arena made their frustration clear as the first half drew to a close, showering the 76ers with boos while Cleveland seized a commanding 69-40 lead with just 1 minute and 12 seconds remaining in the second quarter. The hosts began clawing back immediately before intermission by scoring five straight points to trim the margin. The momentum carried through the second half, punctuated by a decisive 15-0 run in the final period that overtook the Cavaliers.

Star Performances from Maxey and Embiid Fuel the Comeback

Tyrese Maxey sparked the offense with 32 points, while teammate Joel Embiid anchored the interior with 24 points. Playing his 24th NBA season after arriving in Philadelphie over the summer, LeBron James contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds to orchestrate the comeback. The result established a strong early-season marker for a franchise that has already defeated both the defending champion New York Knicks and last spring’s Eastern Conference finalists from Cleveland.

LeBron James Responds to Presidential Criticism

Following the game, James offered a brief reply to United States Donald Trump, who had criticized the superstar earlier in the day on Truth Social. Trump posted a video from Tuesday’s game at Madison Square Garden in New York, alleging that James continued warming up during the national anthem and labeling the action disrespectful to the country. Trump wrote in the post accompanying the video that James lacks respect for the country while listening to the national anthem, adding, J’ai dit dès le début qu’il n’était pas bon, une HONTE ABSOLUE and stating that James should apologize to all the great American warriors and heroes who died for the American flag and what the country represents. C’est une journée calme au bureau, vous savez, James remarked to reporters after the game, translating to a calm day at the office. Une journée calme au bureau.
