‘Kills It Every Year,’ ‘Unbelievably Peak’ — NBA Fans React as Victor Wembanyama Transforms Into Geralt of Rivia for Halloween

Victor Wembanyama brings back his Halloween tradition as Geralt of Rivia, drawing fan reactions before scoring 43 points in a Spurs win.

Victor Wembanyama’s Halloween tradition is back, and this year’s pick came straight off his bookshelf. The San Antonio Spurs star arrived at Frost Bank Center ahead of the matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves in another elaborate costume, drawing plenty of praise for his latest transformation.

It was his first Halloween appearance in two years. The Spurs didn’t play on the holiday in 2025, leaving those who had come to anticipate his annual entrances waiting an extra year.

Victor Wembanyama Turns Monster Hunter for Halloween

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year dressed as Geralt of Rivia from “The Witcher,” complete with a long white wig, boots, two swords, and a cape. As he approached the tunnel leading to the locker room, he dropped it off with a flourish.

The NBA shared footage of his arrival with the caption “Wemby the Witcher!”

One fan reacted: “Kills it every year, I love it.”

Geralt is the central character in Wembanyama’s favorite book series. He travels from job to job hunting monsters, though the people he encounters often prove crueler than the creatures he is paid to kill.

The Frenchman explained his attachment to the books in an earlier video: “Why is it my favorite? Because it feels as much like a fantasy book, epic fantasy, as a dive into human psychology and emotions. The characters are so deep. After reading seven books, it’s like I know these characters like they’re friends or family members. It’s a great, great series. My favorite.”

Wembanyama started the tradition in 2023, his rookie season, when he arrived dressed as Slender Man, the fictional supernatural figure, before a 115-114 road win over the Phoenix Suns.

The following year, he appeared in Salt Lake City wearing an all-black outfit and the signature white mask of No-Face from the Academy Award-winning Studio Ghibli film “Spirited Away.” San Antonio won that game, too, beating the Utah Jazz 106-88.

Not everyone put Geralt first among his three costumes, though. One fan preferred his rookie-year appearance: “Nothing beats Wemby Slenderman.”

His latest transformation, though, earned plenty of praise when all was said and done.

“Okay… this is unbelievably peak,” another fan posted.

Another popular account kept it short: “Nah that’s cold.”

LakeShow Yo, a Lakers fan account, added: “Wemby’s Halloween costume is TOUGH.”

An NBA observer appreciated the two-time All-Star’s willingness to have fun with the occasion: “In a league where so many dudes act nonchalant and boring, Wemby is so awesome, dude.”

This was also his first Halloween costume appearance at home, with the previous two coming on the road.

The 2026 Western Conference Finals MVP gave the San Antonio faithful plenty to cheer about once the game started, scoring 43 points as the Spurs defeated the Timberwolves 121-111.
