Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has held a face-to-face meeting with captain Bruno Fernandes in a bid to resolve tensions between them.
Carrick left the Portuguese midfielder on the bench for the entire 90 minutes during United’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth last weekend.
The decision sparked speculation that Fernandes was being punished for questioning Carrick’s tactics following the club’s Champions League defeat to Como.
With Manchester United’s hierarchy opting to retain Carrick ahead of their Premier League trip to Chelsea, the manager and his captain have reportedly discussed the matter in an attempt to move forward.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the meeting in a post on X, writing:
“Michael Carrick and captain Bruno Fernandes have met face-to-face to clear the air after the Portuguese star was benched for 90 minutes against Bournemouth.
“Bruno is now expected to feature against Chelsea on Saturday.”
