Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was taken to hospital after being involved in a multi-vehicle road accident in Turkey on Thursday night.

The Cameroon international, who is spending the season on loan at Turkish club Trabzonspor, was involved in a collision on the Yomra road near Trabzon.

According to reports by the Daily Star, the accident involved three vehicles after a car allegedly crashed into the rear of Onana’s vehicle, pushing it into another car ahead.

Images circulating on social media showed significant damage to Onana’s vehicle, while the car that reportedly struck it from behind had a badly damaged front end.

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan confirmed the incident while providing an update on the goalkeeper’s condition.

“Andre Onana was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this evening. There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery,” Dogan said.

The 30-year-old was taken to a local hospital for medical assessment following the crash.

However, the club had yet to issue a further medical update or confirm when the goalkeeper would return to training.

The reported accident occurred hours after Onana helped Trabzonspor secure a clean sheet in their Conference League victory over Scottish side Hearts.

Onana joined Trabzonspor on loan from Manchester United earlier this season after struggling for consistency at Old Trafford.

Manchester United officials are expected to remain in contact with their Turkish counterparts regarding the goalkeeper’s condition and recovery.
