Osimhen Ambushes Ex- Club, Scores First Goal
Turkey: Uygun Explains Osimhen’s Struggles After Injury Layoff

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, scored his first UEFA Champions League goal of the season as Galatasaray defeated his former club, Lille, 4-2 yesterday.

The Nigerian forward struck in the 61st minute to help the Turkish champions secure their first three points of the 2026 Champions League campaign. The goal was Osimhen’s seventh in all competitions for Galatasaray this season.

Galatasaray made a bright start when Yunus Akgun opened the scoring in the second minute, but Lille responded through 19-year-old Soriba Diaoune, who scored in the seventh and 39th minutes to put the visitors ahead.

Aleksey Batrakov restored parity for Galatasaray in the 44th minute as both sides went into the break with the match finely balanced. The hosts returned with more determination after the interval and regained the lead through an own goal by Nabil Bentaleb.

Osimhen then settled the contest with his 61stminute strike, sealing an important victory for Galatasaray and giving the Nigerian another reason to celebrate against his former employers.

The encounter marked another meeting between Osimhen and Lille, where he played during the 2019/20 season before moving to Napoli in Italy.
