Falcons Drop Seven Places In Latest FIFA Rankings
WAFCON 2026: Ajibade Vows Super Falcons Will Fight For World Cup Spot

Super Falcons have dropped seven places to 43rd in the latest FIFA women’s world rankings released yesterday. The 10-time African champions were previously ranked 36th in the world but have now slipped despite retaining their position as Africa’s highest-ranked women’s national team.

South Africa remain second on the continent, followed by Morocco, Ghana and Zambia in third, fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

The Falcons’ decline follows a difficult run of results, including their disappointing performance at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals after defeats to Malawi and Cameroon.

Nigeria also suffered a 2-1 defeat to South Africa in the playoffs for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, further affecting their standing on the global stage.
