Burkina Faso will host the zonal stage of the 2026 WAFU B African Schools Football Championship, with Ouagadougou chosen as the new venue following Nigeria’s withdrawal from hosting duties.
The Under-15 competition was initially scheduled to take place in Nigeria from December 6 to 9, 2026. However, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has pulled out of the arrangement, paving the way for Burkina Faso to take over hosting responsibilities.
Organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the African Schools Football Championship provides a platform for young footballers to display their talent while supporting grassroots development and creating pathways for the next generation of African stars.
The WAFU B zonal tournament is expected to feature teams from across the sub-region, including Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Benin, Niger and hosts Burkina Faso. The participating nations will compete for regional honours and the opportunity to advance towards the continental finals.
Ghana will participate in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, with the country’s national Under-15 teams set to represent the nation at the competition.
The girls’ side, known as the Black Damsels, will arrive with a strong record, having finished as silver medallists in the WAFU B zone and won the CAF African Schools Football Championship.
The Black Damsels will be hoping to defend their continental crown and continue Ghana’s impressive record in the competition. Meanwhile, the boys’ team will be eager to make their mark as they face opponents from across the West African sub-region.
