Bafana Bafana star Relebohile Mofokeng looks at home in Belgium. He’s been nominated for October Player of the Month.
After a string of decisive displays for Royal Union Saint-Gilloise, 22-year-old Rele Mofokeng is one of the frontrunners to take home the Belgian Pro League’s October Player of the Month gong. The club is flying both domestically and in the Europa League. Union went unbeaten in the month of October, winning four matches on the bounce across all competitions at the back end. Mofokeng scored and assisted in a 5-2 win over Cercle Brugge, assisted in a 4-0 win over Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Europa League, and was man of the match in an impressive 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad, also in the Europa League. So far, Rele has five goals and four assists in 15 Royal SG outings.

Rele and his teammates face Celta Vigo away from home in the Europa League on Thursday, 5 November at 22:00 SA time. It’s Guy Fawkes, so we could expect fireworks from the Bafana man.
Mofokeng’s old club beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in Saturday’s Soweto Derby, effectively ruling the Glamour Boys out of the title race after just nine matches. Orlando Pirates boss Abdeslam Ouaddou notched his 50th win for a PSL club in the process. The Sea Robbers have won four of the last six meetings between the sides.
