Arsenal’s second January deal has been ruled off after Club Brugge rejected the idea of selling Nicolo Tresoldi this winter. The revelation comes after Atletico Madrid stated that Julian Alvarez will remain in the Spanish city until the end of the season.
It was previously claimed that the Gunners were planning a move for Tresoldi, 22, in the coming months. The north London club was successful in their negotiations with Club Brugge over the summer, luring Christos Tzolis away from the Juniper League side, and they could be prepared to try their luck again.
However, according to Belgian magazine Het Nieuwsblad, the Premier League winners will be disappointed in any attempts to sign the Italy-born forward at the start of 2027. Brugge have decided not to sell their attacker, despite interest from Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen, as well as Arsenal.
According to the source, Tresoldi is becoming ‘increasingly difficult to keep’, but even a ‘massive’ or ‘astronomical’ deal will not tempt the Belgian team during the forthcoming transfer window. According to reports, the club will reject any deal.
Brugge’s firm position will only continue until the end of the season, however. The club has no intention of slowing their star’s career.
Brugge head coach Ivan Leko believes this season is critical to Tresoldi’s growth. “He is another top lad who is completely dedicated to his craft,” the Croatian explained.
“On the field, he has tremendous abilities. “He is a versatile striker who can score goals, link up play, press aggressively, and take on responsibility during games.
