I have lots  to Learn at Venezia, says Akor Adams

Akor Adams

Super Eagles forward Akor Adams says he is ready to take on whatever role is asked of him at Venezia. He describes his move from Sevilla as a chance to develop new parts of his game rather than simply a change of club.

Venezia completed the permanent signing of the 26-year-old in July, and he signed a contract running to 30 June 2030. Reports put the fee at just over €16 million guaranteed, with add-ons that could take it to as much as €23 million. Sevilla had signed him from Montpellier in January 2025 for around €5 million, so they made a healthy profit on the deal.

Adams arrives at a difficult time for his new side. Newly promoted Venezia sit bottom of Serie A, with one win from seven matches and three points. He is expected to lead the attack alongside Albion Rrahmani, and he has made clear he will contribute at both ends of the pitch, working defensively as well as offensively.

Adams’s time in Spain had a slow start because of injuries. Last season he found his form, and his goals and pressing helped Sevilla stay up in LaLiga. At international level he has around 15 caps and 6 goals for Nigeria, and he was part of the squad that won bronze at AFCON 2025.

Speaking about his approach, Adams struck a humble tone and put his trust in the coaching staff. “I have a lot to learn. I have a lot of room to grow, and I think the coach is here to help me with whatever I need,” he said. “Whatever the coach wants from me, defensive or offensive, runs, duels, this is what I have to do for the team.”

That willingness to do the unglamorous work, from pressing and tracking back to winning physical battles, will matter for a team fighting for results. It also suggests Adams sees his role as broader than scoring goals.

When he signed, he said he chose Venezia because of the club’s “extraordinary project” and the passion of its supporters. He now frames the move as part of a longer journey. “There is no limit to how much I can grow,” he said. “For me, Venezia is a project that helps me understand other parts of my game, and that is what I am focused on.”

For Adams, the focus is on growth and adaptability, and on helping Venezia climb out of the relegation zone.
