Mamelodi Sundowns host Wiliete SC at Pretoria’s Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday, 23 October, knowing they must win to reach the group stage of the 2026-27 CAF Champions League.

The holders were held to a goalless draw in the first leg in Angola and now face a potentially difficult return match in South Africa as they begin their bid to retain the trophy.

Mamelodi Sundowns created several chances in the opening game but could not find a way past the Wiliete goalkeeper. The Angolan side dealt with Miguel Cardoso’s team’s attacking pressure and will travel to Pretoria believing they can produce another surprise.

Wiliete reached the second preliminary round after eliminating Seychelles club Foresters FC in the opening round. Their performance in the first leg showed they can trouble a more experienced opponent, although they will need to balance defensive discipline with a greater attacking threat if they are to continue their continental campaign.

For Mamelodi Sundowns, the task is straightforward: secure victory in front of their home supporters and confirm their place in the group stage. A second 0-0 draw would send the tie to a penalty shootout, while any score draw would leave Wiliete in a favourable position.

Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00 GMT, or 20:00 in South Africa.
