Barcelona and Real Madrid clash in the first El Clasico showdown of the season tonight, and the stakes are high - even at this early stage.

While Barcelona suffered a setback against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League earlier in the week, they have made a stunning start to the LaLiga campaign, winning all nine games and scoring 39 goals in the process.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have already lost twice - both away from home to Real Betis and Atletico Madrid - meaning they trail their bitter rivals by six points.

Defeat at the Camp Nou would not necessarily be terminal for Los Blancos and their title hopes, though clawing back a nine-point deficit against this Barcelona team suggests they cannot afford to lose.

Tonight marks Jose Mourinho’s first taste of an El Clasico in 13 long years, having returned to the Spanish capital in the summer, and just a second-ever meeting with Hansi Flick.

Mourinho, who will be without the suspended Vinicius Junior, is tasked with halting Barca’s recent dominance in this fixture as Real have lost six of the last seven El Clasicos across all competitions.

For an extra layer of intrigue, this game takes place around 24 hours before the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony and two of the front-runners for the main award in Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe are expected to play the role of protagonist for their respective sides.

TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on Premier Sports. Coverage starts on Premier Sports 1 at 7.30pm GMT ahead of a 8pm kick-off.
