With the Major League Baseball season over, the Houston Astros' ballpark will be bereft of baseball for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, one of wrestling's biggest stars will take the stage there.
On Monday night, wrestling superstar John Cena announced he will participate in WWE's Survivor Series: WarGames event at Houston's Daikin Park on Nov. 28. Cena announced the news himself on WWE's Monday Night RAW. Cena said he will be in Houston to unveil participants in his upcoming John Cena Classic tournament on Dec. 14 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Cena, a 17-time WWE World Champion, revealed that Cody Rhodes will be the first big name to take part in the Cena Classic. But before the Cena Classic is the Survivor Series, one of WWE's "Big Four" events.
In July, WWE and the Houston Astros announced that Daikin Park will host the Survivor Series: War Games event on Nov. 28 for the 40th annual edition of the event. WWE's WarGames matches center around multiple teams of wrestlers duking it out inside a steel cage, and are traditionally some of WWE's marquee events.
Daikin Park will be the second MLB stadium to host a Survivor Series: WarGames event. Last year Petco Park, home to the San Diego Padres, hosted the Survivor Series and set WWE attendance records. This will be the first WWE Premium Live Event held at Daikin Park since the Royal Rumble in 2020. At the 2020 Royal Rumble, what was then-Minute Maid Park was transformed into a wrestling arena and hosted 41,715 spectators.

The Nov. 28 Survivor Series will also be Cena's first Survivor Series in Houston since 2017, when he participated as a member of Team SmackDown. Cena had said he would be retiring at the Survivor Series last year, but clearly he has other plans. The match has implications for Cena's John Cena Classic Tournament because every star involved in the Survivor Series is a potential invitee. Roman Reigns has already been confirmed, and current WWE storylines point to a planned five-on-five match between The Bloodline and 946.
