Curtis Jones says it was an "easy" decision to leave Liverpool and sign for Inter Milan this summer, with the 25-year-old making the move to Serie A for around $40 million (£30 million).
The England international made 228 appearances for Liverpool but felt that the moment was right for him to move on in search of more regular game time. The Reds had knocked back an approach from Inter around six months before he eventually departed, having failed to nail down a spot in the starting XI ahead of the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
"When we played against Inter in the Champions League, I immediately noticed the connection between players and fans," Jones outlined to DAZN.
"Liverpool and I have always had this special bond with the fans, our twelfth man on the pitch. I think the same thing applies to those who love Inter, so it was an easy choice (to join the club)."
Inter won the Italian top flight last season and is currently sitting second, only behind Lazio. Jones is aiming high this term in Europe too.
"I'm 100 percent convinced we can be competitive in the Champions League," he said, in an interview relayed by TuttoMercato. "If I look at my teammates, in terms of quality and individuality, there's the ability to score, provide assists, create chances.
"I feel a strong team spirit, a general energy. We're capable of coming back, even when the opponent scores first. We're not scared. We don't lose our heads.
"The fans are fantastic. That also helps a lot. I simply feel that the team has what it takes.
"I would never have chosen a team that didn't have everything it needs. There may be some details that need improving, but the gap isn't that big.
"From the outside, everyone thinks Serie A is a slower league and that the level isn't as high. I only partially agree. The games are slower because of the way our opponents approach us.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
"At Liverpool, it was exactly the same. Being one of the strongest teams in the league, our opponents rarely pressed us, but they made everything more difficult by blocking low.
"If you're the strongest team, with the best players, that's what your opponents will do. In Italy as in England."
Liverpool.com says: Jones has not fully got up to speed with Inter yet, and he has been struggling with an injury, but he looks ideal for the Italian league.
At Liverpool, he wasn't going to get the role that he wanted because of the competition for places. A fresh start at Inter made sense at this point in his career.
