Black Alisen: The overlapping defender

From the football pitches of Monkey Bay in Mangochi to captaining Moyale Barracks in the FDH Bank Premiership, Black Alisen is steadily building his reputation as a dependable defender with ambitions of representing Malawi and playing professional football abroad.

Alisen began his football journey in 2014 at Sauya in Monkey Bay, Mangochi, where he joined Sauya Young Soccer.

He progressed through the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-20 levels before earning an opportunity to join Moyale Barracks, popularly known as the Lions of Kaning’ina.

Since joining the Mzuzu-based side, Alisen has continued to develop his game, combining his defensive responsibilities with an increasing contribution to the team’s attacking play.

In the 2026 FDH Bank Premiership season, he has scored four goals and provided two assists, making him one of the notable contributors in front of goal for the Lions of Kaning’ina.

He is also determined to continue scoring goals and creating opportunities for his teammates as Moyale Barracks targets a top-eight finish in the 2026 FDH Bank Premiership season.

Asked about the players who inspire him, Alisen names former Moyale Barracks captain Lovemore Mitengo and Blessings Mpokera of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

Internationally, he admires Spanish defensive great Sergio Ramos, whose leadership and defensive qualities have made him one of the most recognisable defenders in football.
