Former England international Steven Gerrard has maintained his pre-season prediction that Arsenal will emerge as Premier League champions this season.
New Telegraph recalls that the Gunners ended their 22-year wait for the league title last season and have continued their impressive form in the current campaign.
Arsenal moved three points clear at the summit following their 1-0 victory over Liverpool on Sunday, strengthening their position in the title race.
Gerrard believes Mikel Arteta’s side have the quality, depth and resilience required to withstand the pressure from their title rivals.
However, the former Liverpool captain has identified Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool as the three sides capable of mounting a serious challenge against Arsenal over the course of the season.
Speaking on The Overlap Daily, Gerrard said: “I just think where Arsenal’s squad is, and City’s, the Liverpool squad, I just think over the course of the 38 games, the three teams, and Chelsea,
When you look at Chelsea in the second half there, I think those teams will pull away a bit over the course,” Gerrard said on The Overlap Daily.
