Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé made history on Monday after securing a place in the official top 10 of the 2026 Ballon d’Or rankings.
The France captain featured among the leading nominees alongside Ousmane Dembélé, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Lionel Messi, Michael Olise, Fabián Ruiz, Rodri and Lamine Yamal.
According to Madrid Xtra, Mbappé has become the first French player in history to finish inside the Ballon d’Or top 10 for nine consecutive editions.
The 2026 award could present another opportunity for the Real Madrid star to claim his first-ever Ballon d’Or title.
However, he faces stiff competition from other leading contenders, including Yamal and Kane. Mbappé enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, finishing as the top scorer in both the Champions League and LaLiga.
He also claimed the Golden Boot as the leading scorer at the World Cup.
