Real Madrid took a huge gamble in the summer when they paid the transfer price to get Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig.
Los Blancos have signed a €140 million package deal with the German club to bring the Ivorian winger to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 19-year-old is already exhibiting signs of his talent, but he understands that his ceiling might be much higher.
It was also revealed that the German club insisted on incorporating a Ballon d’Or clause in his transfer, demonstrating how highly everyone regards him.
In a recent interview, Diomande was asked which past Real Madrid player he would bring back into the present group.
The child promptly chose Cristiano Ronaldo, revealing his devotion for the Portuguese superstar.
“What if I could bring back one Real Madrid legend to play for the squad right now? Cristiano Ronaldo, of course, is my idol,” Diomande stated (via Madrid Zone).
The adolescent has been outspoken about his affection for Ronaldo. After securing his Real Madrid move, he revealed that he grew up watching the Al Nassr great.
“I related to that because I didn’t like losing either. I am a bad loser. “used to cry whenever I lost,” he confessed.
Diomande even confessed that he grew up buying Ronaldo shirts and occasionally painting his name on them himself.
Ronaldo is undoubtedly the biggest star to have graced the Bernabeu in the last few decades.
His legacy at the club is unparalleled. The Portuguese forward scored 450 goals in only 438 games. He helped the club win four Champions League titles in nine years.
If Diomande grew up witnessing this magnificent moment in Real Madrid history, simply donning the jersey now is an incredible accomplishment.
However, it appears that the teenager respected Ronaldo not just for his goals, but also for the mentality he brought to the game.
If the Ivorian wants to leave a lasting impact at Real Madrid, he will undoubtedly need a strong mentality and dedication.
Diomande has impressed in recent weeks, starting on the left wing and demonstrating a desire to challenge defenders.
More crucially, Mourinho has demonstrated comparable defensive effort by tracking back to support Marc Cucurella.
If the Ivorian has half the career that Ronaldo did in Madrid, he will already be a club legend, and it remains to be seen how his time in Spain plays out.
