UEFA Champions League: PSG, Barcelona, Manchester United win *Full results

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) produced the most emphatic performance of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League action, thrashing Villarreal 6-0, as Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United also recorded important victories on matchday four of the league phase.

The defending champions scored four goals in the opening 17 minutes at the Estadio de la Cerámica to overwhelm Villarreal and maintain their perfect record in the competition, blueprint reports.

João Neves opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Désiré Doué and Senny Mayulu struck in quick succession. Fabián Ruiz added the fourth in the 17th minute to leave the hosts facing an uphill battle.

Ruiz completed his brace five minutes after the restart, while teenager David Boly came off the bench to score his first Champions League goal in the 78th minute.

The 6-0 victory maintained PSG’s position at the top of the league-phase standings with 12 points from four matches.

Manchester United stage comeback to beat Roma

Manchester United produced one of the night’s most dramatic results, recovering from a two-goal deficit to defeat AS Roma 3-2 at Old Trafford.

Roma appeared to be in control after Matías Soulé opened the scoring in the 11th minute before Donyell Malen converted a penalty in the 17th minute to give the Italian side a 2-0 advantage.

However, United responded after the interval, with captain Bruno Fernandes converting a retaken penalty in the 58th minute.

Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha then turned the game around with two goals in the closing stages, scoring in the 83rd and 86th minutes to complete an impressive comeback.

Cunha was sent off in stoppage time after receiving a second yellow card, but his contribution had already secured all three points for the English side.

The victory ended United’s nine-match winless run and gave manager and supporters a much-needed boost in their European campaign.

Bayern defeat Atletico Madrid in Spain

Bayern Munich secured a 2-0 away victory over Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano Stadium.

The German champions broke the deadlock in the 54th minute through teenage midfielder Lennart Karl, who capitalised on a turnover before finishing past goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Konrad Laimer doubled Bayern’s advantage in the 74th minute after receiving an excellent pass from Harry Kane.

The victory marked an important return to winning ways for Bayern after successive draws in the competition.

Barcelona overcome Aston Villa as Yamal makes history

Barcelona continued their impressive European campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the seventh minute, while Raphinha added two second-half goals in the 52nd and 64th minutes to seal the win.

Yamal’s goal also saw him surpass Kylian Mbappé to become the highest-scoring teenager in Champions League history, taking his tally to 14 goals before turning 20.

The result strengthened Barcelona’s position in the race for a place among the league phase’s top eight teams.

Inter, Galatasaray and LASK record victories

Elsewhere, Inter Milan defeated Feyenoord 3-0 away from home to continue their positive campaign.

Yann Bisseck opened the scoring in the eighth minute before Francesco Pio Esposito doubled the advantage in the 34th minute. Piotr Zieliński completed the victory in the 54th minute.

Galatasaray defeated Stuttgart 2-0, while Sporting CP secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk.

LASK recorded one of the night’s other emphatic victories, beating Slovan Bratislava 4-0.
