Senne Lammens faces growing criticism at Manchester United as supporters weigh his flaws against deeper structural deficiencies at the club, DHnet reported.
Recent weeks have seen praise for the Belgian goalkeeper give way to critique, though fans canvassed across Europe maintain he is not the primary source of the team’s struggles. Cristian, a Manchester United supporter based in Spain, defended the player during an away fixture against Atlético Madrid in Spain. “He has a few flaws, that’s clear, but he made brilliant saves. Me, I love him,” Cristian said, noting that while some fans view the goalkeeper as short of the required standard, others remain confident.
Piotr, a supporter who traveled from Russia to watch the club, pointed to the player’s potential. “He’s a good goalkeeper, he’s still young and I hope he will be the future number one of the Belgian national team,” Piotr said.
Ivan Johnson, head of the Manchester United supporters’ club in Redditch, south of Birmingham, offered a measured assessment. “I don’t think he is a finished player yet, but with time and a little more experience, he will be a starter worthy of Manchester United,” Johnson said. “It may take a good level replacement to push him a little more. But Lammens has the stuff of a starter.”
While opinions on the goalkeeper vary, the club’s fanbase shares a consensus regarding broader roster issues. Supporters interviewed by DHnet pointed to squad construction and defensive frailties as the root cause of the team’s inconsistent performances.

“It’s our entire defense, it’s our system, it’s the construction of the team,” Piotr said. Johnson echoed those concerns regarding the club’s recent transfer policy. “The recruitment policy of these past four or five years is simply insufficient: we spend large sums for mediocre players. We should make some changes rather than overpaying for hastily bought recruits,” Johnson said.
Amid the team’s sporting difficulties, midfielder Youri Tielemans is beginning to win over supporters through his leadership and work rate following a subdued start to his tenure.
“He will be very important for us this season thanks to his experience,” Johnson said ahead of traveling to Italy to support the team against Como on Wednesday. “I will continue to follow United, home and away, whatever their level of play.”
