Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso and goalkeeper Mike Penders have received recognition for their performances in October after being nominated for Premier League monthly awards.
According to a report by The Chelsea Chronicle on Thursday, 5 November 2026, Alonso is shortlisted for Manager of the Month, while Penders is in contention for Save of the Month.
The nominations reflect Chelsea's progress under Alonso, who has guided the club to several impressive results despite setbacks against Tottenham and Brentford.
Chelsea recorded three victories in four Premier League matches during October. They defeated Bournemouth 5-1, Everton 2-0 and Manchester United 2-0, with their only defeat coming against Tottenham.
The victory over Manchester United was particularly significant for Penders, who produced an outstanding save to deny Bryan Mbeumo.
The 21-year-old reacted quickly to tip the forward's powerful effort from outside the penalty area onto the crossbar, helping Chelsea secure another clean sheet.
Penders has recently taken on greater responsibility following the absence of Emiliano Martinez.
His performances have attracted attention, particularly after he came under criticism for his mistake against Tottenham.
The goalkeeper punched the ball into his own net during that defeat but responded positively against Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Alonso's nomination recognises Chelsea's three victories during October, although the defeat to Tottenham could affect his chances of winning the award.
Both nominations provide encouragement for Chelsea as Alonso continues to establish his ideas at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues will now turn their attention to Sunday's Premier League meeting with Sunderland, hoping to maintain their momentum.
